A beautiful textile is woven through many steps. Dreaming up the design, calculating yarn amounts, winding yarn on the warping board and beam, threading the yarn through the heddles and reed...all must be done with care before having a chance at weaving the weft through the warp strings. Each step is to be cherished, to be given patience and concentration in full measure.
Every textile is uniquely crafted. Being made by hand, it's impossible to have a duplicate; the movements of the maker entwined in each piece.

with a purpose.
Perhaps it's the quarter of me that is Armenian...a chance that some distant relative was a weaver.
Perhaps it's the fact that my grandfather worked with looms.
Perhaps it's the time when I travelled to Ethiopia and witnessed the swiftness with which beautiful fabric was woven and the rhythmic clack of the loom.
Most likely it was a combination of those that led me to love making textiles.
